northern flames / 2002-06-23 - 5:50 p.m.
Northern Arizona is on fire. I'm sure you've heard it in the news. 300,000 acres, or 600 square miles. So many people and animals are losing their homes right now as I type this.

I was thinking about this in the car today. I remember when I lived in California, there were alot of wild fires. The valley we lived in filled up with smoke and ash, making it very hard to breathe or go outside. Seeing pictures of Show Low today reminded me of that.

Further on down the thought train, I came to the conclusion that there is some raving idiot in Hollywood right now thinking about how good of a TV movie this would make. Pondering tapping B-list starlets like Brian Austin Green to play a hot-shot volunteer fire fighter, Tori Spelling to play his tear-streaked, 'no-don't-go-into-the-fire-alone' screaming girlfriend and some 60-something bit actor to play the 'seasoned' firefighter/mentor/father figure.

How sad is that? To see something happening this close to home and knowing there is some dick out there looking to make a fast buck by writing an NBC Sunday-Night movie. They're already writing one about 9/11, so seeing a commercial for a movie on this next spring wouldn't suprise me one bit.
